Chocolate Chip Cookies

So today I had a craving for chocolate chip cookies. Every time I would walk into my pantry the chocolate chips would be right there. Instead of putting the chocolate chips somewhere else I decided to bake cookies. So I measured the ingredients all out and mixed and shaped the dough into balls and put them in the oven. Sure enough those cookies went flat and hard. I have yet to master the skill in making perfect chocolate chip cookies. I know if you use all butter they will go flat, but the recipe I used called for butter and shortning. So I don't know what happened. Maybe chocolate chip cookies are not for me to bake. However, my family could care less whether they look good as long as they taste YUMMY! Maybe some day...

That is so crazy-I cannot make chocolate chip cookies either! The best recipe I have come up with is the one right on the label of Crisco butter flavored shortening. Those ones don't really go flat for me. Are yo going to take your kids to the junior high scool for free lunch tomorrow?

I can never make cookies come out the way I'd like they either end up flat or burned to a crisp. If I want them to look really good Rob has to make them.
Even idf I buy the pre-made cookie dough, they still flop!
I blame it on the stove, electric is just to hard for me to figure out i guess.
so compared to mine yours look scurmptous!!

just make sure your butter is not melted all the way....just soft room temperature butter. Also don't skip the creaming of the sugar and butter step

I would have eaten most of the dough so wouldn't have had to worry about the cookies! They tasted great I am sure.

Let me know if you find a good recipe. I can only bake good chocolate chip cookies if they are premade. (Papa murphey's, pilsbury, etc!)

I'm now in the mood for some cookies. Thanks a lot Mary!

I have a really yummy recipe for chocolate chip cookies. They are my favorite treat and about the only one I make because I am pretty successful with them...and I hate failing at a recipe especially dessert.
Give this recipe a shot and let me know what you think.

1 1/2 C Butter Flavor Shortning
1 1/2 C White Sugar
3/4 C Brown Sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
cream above ingredients together
add:
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. bkg. powder
3 1/2 C Flour
1 pkg semi sweet chocolate chips

Bake 375 for 10 min.(even if they don't look completely done) pull them out and let them cool on pan for apx 10 min.
Makes about 4-5 dozen

So when you're up for another shot at making cookies try this and let me know what you think.

I just wanted to say hello - it was good to hear from you. You and you're family look like you're doing great. I love how big your yard is. Ours isn't so big. Oh by the way, Payette is an hour passed Boise - about 15 minutes from the Oregon border and Ontario.
Hope all is well - we'll have to keep in touch.
